Why should I join Polarcus?
Whether you’re new to the industry, or currently employed within the industry, this is a great time to join us! Not only is the industry moving at an exhilarating pace, but we offer at Polarcus a great opportunity for motivated individuals to be part of the world's fastest growing marine seismic company investing in the most modern seismic vessels and technology available in the market today. You will also find at Polarcus a challenging and friendly environment where team work and talent is recognized, and where your contribution can have a real and visible impact on the successful growth of our company.
How do I submit my CV/resume?
If you’ve seen an open position posted that interests you, you can submit your CV or resume through our Careers Center. If you need help with preparing a CV, there are also many excellent resources available via the internet on writing effective resumes.
Are you likely to be taken over?
This can be a natural concern with any young company, and even some established players! The founders of Polarcus are very clear however in their intentions to build a viable and sustainable business that will grow in time to become one of the leading geophysical service companies in the world. To help secure their vision and the future of the company the senior management team and a select few investors have joined together with the founders to establish a substantial shareholding in the company, thereby minimizing the risk of a take-over.
Can I still submit my CV/resume if I don’t see an open position posted that matches my skills?
You can. We will keep your resume on file and if a vacancy comes up that matches your qualifications and interest, then we will get in touch. To submit your CV or resume please visit our Careers page.
What is it like to live and work in Dubai?
Dubai is a vibrant and exciting city that is home to a large international expat population. For those applicants considering a shore-based position in Dubai we have posted some general information about Dubai and a few useful links to further resources on our dedicated web page ‘Working in Dubai’. There are also some excellent reference guides to living in Dubai available at most book shops.
Will life on board your vessels be any different from other seismic companies?
We believe so! Not only are our vessels all ultra-modern new builds, but they are leading the way in terms of both technology and comfort. The unique ULSTEIN X-BOW® hull design will offer significantly improved passage alongside reduced noise and vibration levels throughout the ship, setting new standards for crew safety and comfort on-duty and off-duty. And as our entire fleet is new build, every offshore employee is guaranteed to work on a new build vessel!
Is the environmental agenda simply marketing?
Absolutely not! The founders of the company, conscious that fossil fuels are considered by many to contribute a significant proportion of global warming, wanted to establish a responsible service company that would do its utmost to operate climate-resilient projects. Throughout the design of the vessels every effort has been taken to find and implement a range of solutions that will minimize our environmental footprint, from the fitting of exhaust catalysts that will significantly cut our emissions to air, through to the selection of solid streamer technology. And the focus is not just offshore either. Onshore, and through our company’s policies and procedures, we are pursuing several pioneering green initiatives ranging from recycling through carbon offsetting.
What training will I receive?
We believe that training is important for both the company and the individual. We are currently developing a comprehensive training program that will be both motivational and relevant, allowing you to take more control of your career development.
What crew rotation will you be using?
We offer a five week rotation period which we believe offers the crew and company the most efficient schedule.
Are you employing maritime crew?
Yes. Polarcus wish to create a fully unified, safe and efficient workforce on the vessels and for that reason both the seismic crew and maritime officers will be employed directly by the company and be supported by a combined maritime and seismic management team in the Dubai office. In the longer term we also envisage the maritime ratings being directly hired by Polarcus.
I currently have a good pension today – will I be worse off if I join Polarcus?
We understand individuals growing concerns about providing for a comfortable retirement and so we have made the selection of a good company pension scheme a top priority. More information on our pension scheme is available from our HR department.
What health care and life insurance benefits do you offer?
Like pensions, we place great importance on being able to offer good health care and life insurance benefits to our employees. We are confident that you will find our benefits package highly competitive within the industry.
As an offshore worker what country will my contract be issued from?
The contracts will be issued by Polarcus Limited which is based in the Cayman Islands. The contracts will be based on English employment law. However Polarcus will follow the necessary company rights and obligations that are related to an employee’s country of residence.
What currency will I be paid in?
Polarcus recognizes that currency fluctuations can cause uncertainty in financial planning so we will establish payments in US Dollars, Pounds Sterling, Euros and Norwegian Kroner.
How soon do you need people and how soon will you contact me?
We will respond to every applicant within a few weeks but please bear with us as it may take some time. We have a number of positions that require filling immediately, both for the office and for the vessel rigging team. We will then phase in seismic and maritime crew as the various vessel riggings proceed. If in doubt about timing, apply to us now. We may not be able to offer you a position immediately but we would then like to keep your CV/resume on file.
